[ARCHIVED] Horine Road Train Trestle Work

Horine Rd trestle

Work on the train trestle at Horine Road is slated to begin this month. The first thing we’ll see is materials being delivered and staged. A crane will be moved on and off site each day that it is used. Towards the end of the month, pilings will be driven into the ground, the center posts will be removed, and bracing will be installed.  After the bracing is installed, caps and precast spans will be put in place.  During all that work, Horine Road, going under the trestle, will be closed for 4-6 hours at a time. Once the precast spans are in place, there will be one long day of Horine Road being closed. That day will be about 16 hours long and the railroad bed going over the new precast spans will be put in place.  Traffic under the trestle will be detoured as well as train traffic through that area.

Typically work will not start before 8am to have as little impact on morning traffic as possible. There is no night work scheduled.  This project is scheduled to wrap up in late October.  Weather could play a factor and could delay the project.

Widening the opening under the trestle is going to do so much towards vehicle and pedestrian safety in that area.  We also know that it is a project that will garner attention and people will want to see what’s going on and to monitor the progress.  We get it, we do too!  However, please restrict sightseeing drive byes to times when work is not being done for everyone’s safety.

How can you help?  Pay attention to the posted detours and other signs in the area.  Watch for social media posts that will alert everyone as to when work is going on and road closures.  If possible, avoid the area during the day.
