The Finance Department manages the financial operation of the City of Festus. Across all budgets and funds, the city spends in excess of $15 million a budget year and the finance department is responsible for accounting for those funds in a manner consistent with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities
The city finance officer is under the direction of the city administrator and is responsible for daily management of all financial services including:
Accounts payable
Accounts receivable
Investing city funds
Payroll
Preparing financial statements for city council and public record
The Finance Department processes payment of invoices and issues checks for all departments, accounts for all revenue received by the city and processes payroll and issues checks for the city's 82 full-time and approximately 45 part-time and seasonal employees.
